Health Concerns
Published on Jan 11, 2019 12:20

Dear SJV families,
I just wanted to make you aware that a strain of severe Strep Throat has hit several of our students, primarily in the younger grades.  There is no "epidemic" but I am just making everyone aware as a precaution to keep an eye on your little ones for sore throats or fevers, as this strain is particularly contagious, in case you need to take extra measures for their health safety.
As well the H1N1 flu virus has made its comeback.  Apparently the flu vaccine has been effective with the virus, but it has been hitting the elderly and children under the age of 10 more frequently.  Making your children aware of good hygiene practices during the flu season is important;  frequent of washing hands, especially after sneezing, covering sneezes and coughs with your sleeves.  Of course, if your child is exhibiting any flu or any other illness symptoms, it is wise to keep them home until they are better. (please notify the school if you do (705-726-6782))
Yours in faith
J. Murphy
