Dear Parents,
It was so great to see so many families out at the Pizza Q - Open House this past Thursday.  What a wonderful community to be a part of.  We have a school mass coming the morning of Oct. 10th.  If you can make it, we would love to share mass with as many family as possible.
Orange Shirt Day is Monday Oct. 1.

Orange shirt Day started 5 years ago (2013) in a school in British Columbia and continues to expand in schools across Canada.  Sept 30th is the actual day, but we at SJV will celebrate it on Monday.  This day comes from a story told by a woman who is from of Canada's first nations.  It’s a story shared by Phyllis Wastad who is now a grandmother.  As a child she went to residential school.  On her first day, her new orange t-shirt was taken from her and never returned. It made her feel sad - and like she didn’t matter.  We celebrate Orange Shirt day to say that all children matter!

God Bless and keep you all.
Yours in faith,
J. Murphy

This week’s events:
Growth mindset Quote of the Week:    The fear of making a mistake is the most significant obstacle to growth. We do not always challenge our students, or ourselves, because we fear failure, theirs and ours.  When we don’t challenge ourselves, we don’t challenge our students. We have to risk making a mistake, so they can grow.  This may mean moving out of our comfort zones, but it’s an exciting and invigorating place to be.

Mon. Oct. 1 - Orange Shirt Day! Wear something orange to be in solidarity of our FNMI brothers and sisters who were removed from their families to attend residential schools.

Wed. Oct. 3 - Bus Safety Presentation in the Gym in the PM

Thu. Oct. 4 - Regional Cross Country Run at Sunnidale Park
